31-Year-Old Nigerian Currently Running For Mayor In Detroit

31-year old Nigerian, John Olumba is a  running for mayor of the city of Detroit in Michigan. He is a lawyer, an ordained pastor and he is currently an Independent member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing District 3.

 

According to wikipedia, he is the first Nigerian elected to a state office in Michigan history. His dad is from Owerri in Imo State, Nigeria.

$27 Million Disappears From Nigerian Embassy In US

The Senate on Thursday began an inquest into the alleged mismanagement of over $27m proceeds from the sale of Federal Government properties by officials of the Nigerian Embassy in the United States of America.

This follows a petition to the President of the Senate, David Mark, by a non-governmental organisation, Transform Nigeria Movement, praying the Senate to conduct an investigation and make its findings known to the public.

 

The petition, which was signed by Mr. Daniel Elombah, stated that between 2004 and 2007, the Nigerian Embassy sold four prime properties of the Federal Government located in Washington DC and Maryland.

The petitioner alleged that the embassy also commenced the sale of other properties in San Francisco, California within the period.

NASENI Unveils First Motorcycle Produced in Nnewi, Nigeria!

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has unveiled the first motorcycle produced in Nigeria, designed and manufactured by the National Engineering Design and Development Institute (Nnewi), a subsidiary of NASENI.

The 80C engine motorcycle was launched in Anambra state today. The agency is now asking the government to ban the importation of motorcycles, promising that with financial assistance, they can produce better motorcyles.

The Vice Chairman of NASENI, Dr.Mohammed Haruna, said:

"About 20 million Nigerians today rely on motorcycles as a means of transport and many unemployed youths and men support their families or earn a living from running motorcycle as a commercial venture. Imagine the large number of jobs that will be created if only Nigeria could close her borders against the importation of motorcycles and allow entrepreneurs to invest in the manufacturing of the parts including production of the motorcycle locally.

Mother-of-two, 28, dies after receiving butt implants from Venezuelan 'Doctor'

Police have launched an investigation after a woman died receiving butt-enhancement injections from a man who claimed to be a doctor from Venezuela.

Suyima Torres, 28, died in April, and police are treating it as manslaughter connected to the unlicensed practice of medicine. Suyima reportedly visited Cuerpos Health and Aesthetics for a $1,500 procedure in which an oily yellow substance was injected into each of her butt cheeks, according to court documents. A few weeks later she had another round of injections and felt dizzy right after. She died ten hours later.

She paid $2,300 in total cash for the injections. Though her cause of death has not been determined, police are treating it as a homicide.Miami Dade Police seized records, medications, and computers from Cuerpos Health and Aesthetics LLC. 

No charges have been filed but authorities still have few details for family members and a suspect believed to have left the country. Ruth Planas, the owner of Cuerpos Health and Aesthetics LLC, is refusing to provide any information on the 'Venezuelan Doctor'.

54-year-old Nigerian Cab Driver Murdered In New York After Being Stabbed Through The Eye With An UMBRELLA!

A New York City livery cab driver identified as 54-year-old Orji-Ama Uro has been savagely killed after a passenger stabbed him through the eye with an umbrella, piercing his brain, during a dispute.

Police say the mortally wounded man, continued driving for about a block before crashing into two parked cars in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn Thursday. Uro was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The gruesome incident took place at around 5.30pm Thursday near the intersection of Lott Avenue and Thomas S. Boyland Street in Brooklyn.

50 Year Old Rodger William Kelly, Tells Police He Had Sex With His Unconscious Neighbor In Order To Save Her Life.

A 50-year-old man who had sex with his neighbor while she was unconscious told police he only did it to try and keep her warm, it emerged today.

Rodger William Kelly, from St George, Utah, said he inserted his penis inside the unconscious 29-year-old on May 19 because 'he was trying to save her life'. 'He said he did place it inside of her to try and get her temperature up', court documents said. He was arrested on Monday and charged with one count of first-degree felony rape.

In a statement to police, Kelly said he came home to find the woman passed out on her porch and brought her into his apartment to change her clothes. He put her on the bed and lay down next to her, he said, started hugging her to get her temperature up and then had sex with her to 'warm her', the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

When paramedics arrived, Kelly was giving the woman CPR. It was only later when she told police she might have been raped did they launch an investigation.

Nigeria is the deadliest place to be a Christian, says the ICC

The International Christian Concern (ICC) released a statement on Friday, stating that in terms of the number of deaths, Nigeria is the deadliest place to be a Christian.

In percentage terms, seventy percent of Christians killed around the world in 2012 died in Nigeria. According to William Stark of International Christian Concern (ICC), ”I think the actual number is 900 Christians were killed in 2012 in Nigeria. This year, it’s something like 150 [killed] at this point.”

The terrorist group Boko Haram has been mainly responsible for these Christian deaths as they have taken credit for “persecuting Christians in Nigeria, mostly in the northern region of the country.” As a result of the frequent attacks, the number of churchgoers in the Northern part of the country has greatly reduced.

ICC recently reported the murder of a Nigerian pastor, Faye Pama Musa. He was followed home by suspected Boko Haram militants, who pulled the pastor from his home and shot him. Musa who was a leader of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in his state of Borno was killed just minutes after Nigeria’s president, Goodluck Jonathan, announced a state of emergency in the three states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.

Gaddafi-linked assets worth $1bn in South Africa

South African officials are investigating claims ex-Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and his family stashed $1bn (£600m) in assets in the country. Libya has reportedly called for help in repatriating diamonds, gold and cash.

The assets were being held by four banks and security companies in South Africa, reports quoting Libyan investigators say. Some estimates suggest that Gaddafi's total foreign assets could be worth as much as $80bn.

Gaddafi was captured and killed as he tried to flee his home town of Sirte during Libya's political uprising in October 2011. Any assets belonging to him or his family are firmly considered by many Libyans as state-owned property that should be returned.

Libyan investigators had met South African Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and President Jacob Zuma to discuss locating and returning the money.
