The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI on December 7 2012 appointed Rev. Fr. Peter Ebere Okpaleke a clergy of the Catholic Diocese of Awka Diocese the new Bishop of Ahiara Diocese after the death of the pioneer bishop, Victor Chikwe.
However, the appointment of Okpalaeke was vehemently
rejected by Priests and Catholic faithful from the Ahiara Diocese, who insisted
on a native of Mbaise to be elected as bishop of the diocese. Not withstanding the crisis in the Diocese, he was installed as the Bishop of the diocese on the 21st of May 2013.
Born on March 1 1963 in Amesi, Aguata Local Government
Area of Anambara State, he studied philosophy and theology at Bigard Memorial
Seminary Ikot Ekpene and Enugu
respectively. He had his further studies at CIWA Port Harcourt and at the Holy
Cross University Rome where he bagged a doctorate degree in Canon Law in 2011.
Upon his return to the diocese, he was appointed Judge at the Inter-Diocesan
Tribunal of Onitsha and the Parish Priest of Sts John and Paul Parish, Umubele,
Awka Diocese.
May the Lord who appointed you His messenger guide and protect you and give you the wisdom of Solomon to shepherd His flock in Ahiara diocese of the holy catholic and apostolic church in Mbaise aright tru Christ our Lord Amen. Welcome your Lordship, to Mbaise land
ReplyDeletehe will not put his feet in ahiara diocese. we reject him now and forever
ReplyDeleteoparaeke is rejected foever and ever
ReplyDeleteEvery Human being, every Christian has the right and duty to speak up against injustice, power-play and subjugation in the house of God. There are now 5 bishops from Awka and none from Mbaise; there are 15 bishops from Onitsha Province and only 4 from Owerri province... No Mbaise priest is a bishop anywhere in the catholic church even though there are more than 500 catholic priests of Mbaise origin who are very qualified to be a bishop... The Mbaise people are protesting the injustice, power-play, subjugation, and favoritism in the appointment of bishops in Igbo land... ; the one person who is the master-mind of these satanic deeds is cardinal Francis Arinze. The Bishopric of Ahiara diocese in Mbaise was used to settle Okpalaeke as one of the Arinze loyal and errand boys. Mbaise people did their rosary and singing procession to show their rejection of Okpalaeke to the Church and to the whole world. Even though the imperialist Prince Francis Arinze intimidated and pushed the man without balls (Archbishop Obinna) to ordain Okpalaeke as the Titular Bishop Ulakwo, Owerri; Okpalaeke stands completely rejected by Mbaise Catholics for and ever, Amen!!!!
ReplyDeletePlease Stop deceiving the public Okpalaeke is the Titular bishop of Ulakwo Owerri, he is not and will never the bishop of Ahiara-Mbaise diocese. His appointment as the bishop-elect of Ahiara canonically expired on the 7th of April, 2013. Okpalaeke remains rejected forever and ever, in Jesus name, Amen!!!

Why must more and more bishops be coming from the same place in Awka and in Onitsha province???

Roman locuta causa finita est! Rome has spoken, the case is finished! As far as the papacy is concerned, Okpaleke is the Bishop of Ahiara Diocese! I believe α lot of Catholic faithfuls from Mbaise are wallowing in ignorance. This explains the unnecessary rebellion they are manifesting and which is unfortunately fueled by some priests that pledged allegiance to the same Supreme pontiff they now disobey! What α shame!

ReplyDeletebecause awka nwere nna na abrhaham ie arinze
ReplyDeleteShame to all those rejecting the Man of God. Okpaleke, I am from AHIARA and I want to tell you that we love you. Those who are rejecting you are not CHRISTIANS at all. You are God's choice for the Church.
ReplyDeleteWe can see why there is still no qualilified bishop in Mbaise out of the supposed 500priests.If men of Od can act with such immaturity, recklessness and outright regard for the rule of law.How can they even respect anybody that is sent to rule them even if he is chosen among their people. And tommorow they will say mass and expect people to listen to them.Personally i think the whole priests in Mbaise shld be excommunicated so that they can go and start another church instead of disgracin the catholic faith
ReplyDeleteI'm not from Mbaise but I want to say Mbaise people are great, they know their right. Corruption in Nigeria/church, especially in the East, originated from an Anambra man.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think Arinze will learn his lessons. This RUBBISH has to stop now. Current Okigwe Bishop frm awka, Aba diocese Anambara(awka) nw Ahiara Diocese from awka again! CBCN do something about this immediately, the world is watching.
