Meet Peng Weiqing, Chinese man kept in a cage for more than 40 years by his mother!

 

A Chinese woman Peng Waimei, who has kept her son locked in a cage for more than 40 years has appealed for someone to help look after him after she dies.

Peng Weiqing, 48, has been in the cage in his mother's home in the city of Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province, since the age of six. Peng Waimei, says that she did it to protect Weiqing.

Waimei and her late husband locked their son away and have fed him through the bars ever since after a series of health problems as a child. When Weiqing was still a baby he suffered a high fever, which left him brain-damaged. 

Waimei said: 'He can't control himself. 'When he was young, quite often he would cut himself with a knife and glass debris.'Even when walking, he could suddenly fall down and hit his face and make it bleed. 'He must know me, although he may not know the meaning of "mother". He is my 48-year-old child. 

Waimei fears for her son when she dies and hopes to find someone to take care of him. More photos..

Black Man, Kash Delano Register Wrongly Convicted Released After 34 Years In Prison!

In 1979, Brenda Anderson testified that a young man with whom she had gone to high school shot her elderly neighbor to death. Thirty-four years later, Anderson’s sister Sharon took the stand and said the account, which helped send the young man to prison, was a lie.

On Thursday, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge sided with Sharon Anderson and threw out the conviction of Kash Delano Register, who maintained his innocence during more than three decades as inmate No. C11693, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Register took his first steps of freedom just after 4:30 p.m. Friday. The 53-year-old exonerated inmate was transported from a Northern California jail to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles, where he left a free man, CBS Los Angeles reports.

Nigerians Blocked Indian Road for Over 4 Hours in Protest of a Dead Colleague [PHOTOS]

Nigerians and other African nationals numbering about 200 blocked the National Highway 17 on the outskirts of Goa capital in India today in protest of the death of a yet-to-be identified Nigerian.

According to reports, the incident happened when a gang descended at Parra where many Nigerians stay - in four and two wheeler vehicles and attacked a group of Nigerians with weapons. Some of the Nigerians were on bikes when they were attacked. One was hit with a dagger severally that he breathed his last, while five others were injured in the attack before the assailants fled from the scene.

Ejiogu Benjamin a Nigerian, sentenced to death in Vietnam for drug-smuggling

Ejiogu Benjamin Ikechukwu, a Nigerian who was arrested in 2012 for smuggling more than 3.4 kilograms of methamphetamine from Thailand into Vietnam, has been sentenced to death by a Ho Chi Minh City court.

The court, which sat in Vietnam early this week, observed that Ikechukwu committed a crime, which is considered “extremely serious” in the country.Ikechukwu was arrested on June 23, 2012 by customs officials at Tan Son Nhat International Airport with the drugs, which were hidden inside 16 metal cylinders and a laptop adapter.

Tenant Abducts, Impregnates Landlord's Daughter!

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 37-year-old man, Ajibola Idowu, for allegedly kidnapping the daughter of his landlord for three years. The suspect was also said to have forcefully impregnated the victim, Modupe Brown, during captivity. The police told PUNCH Metro that after Brown had given birth to the child, Ajibola refused to allow the child access to immunisation. Reports reaching us indicate that a plane crash has occurred at the Lagos airport. A witness said the crash occurred at the local wing of the airport close to the section were JET-A1, plane fuel, is stored. Sources say the light plane, was carrying the body of the late former governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Agagu and some family members.

Fashola Unveils West Africa’s Tallest Hotel In Lagos

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos unveiled the tallest hotel in West Africa, Intercontinental Lagos, built at a cost of N30 billion. The hotel located at Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria is a 23-storey building containing 358 rooms and 37 suites and a Presidential suite. The Intercontinental Lagos, a subsidiary of the Intercontinental Hotel Group, IHG, is owned by the Milan Group.

Unveiling the 5-star hotel, Fashola said the edifice would surely boost the hospitality and tourism industry in the state, while urging other entrepreneurs to look inward and invest their money in hotels and public utilities such as roads.

Angry Arik Air Passengers Block Abuja Airport Runway (Photos)

Angry Arik Air passengers yesterday, Thursday evening caused confusion at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja after they disembarked from an Arik Air flight that was meant to take them to the Margaret Ekpo Airport, Calabar from Abuja.

The disgruntled passengers practically held passengers on other planes at the airport hostages as they blocked the runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, preventing planes from taking-off or landing.

According to reports, the angry passengers' flight that had the Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, on board, was denied landing at the Calabar airport at about 5.30pm by the station manager due to safety concerns.

56 years old Catholic Priest Arrested For Allegedly Molesting A 15-year-old Boy

A 56-year-old Catholic priest in Pennsylvania has been charged with molesting a 15-year-old boy after cops say he was caught in the act. Rev. Fr. W. Jeffrey Paulish was found with the boy -- who was wearing no pants in a car on the Penn State University campus last Thursday.

Initially, Fr. Paulish told police he was walking around the campus working on his homily and met the boy by chance. That the boy was in emotional distress and needed counseling which he was offering the boy, only to later admit that he had placed an advertisement on the "casual encounters" section of Craigslist website  and the two agreed to meet.  He also admitted to looking at male pornography.

A transgender man is the first in Europe to give birth to a baby after becoming pregnant through a sperm donor. The unidentified man, who was born a woman, delivered the baby boy at home with a midwife in the poor Neukoellin district of Berlin.

He insisted on a home birth because he refused to be listed as the mother on any hospital documents - a legal requirement of in Germany. The father, who maintained the reproductive organs of a woman, has been taking hormone replacement therapies for years to switch sexes.

Details about the sperm donor or any relationship information has been withheld from the public as the father wanted to protect his son from any attention. Officially the child, who was born on March 18, does not have a mother, only a father.

Fani-kayode Withdraws Comments On Bianca Ojukwu

A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has withdrawn the statement credited to him that he had an intimate relationship with the wife of the late Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu.

Fani-Kayode, also a former Minister of Culture, in a statement by his lawyer, Mr. Akinola Babatunde Rotimi, however, said the claim by Bianca that they were not friends and had never met was ‘patently false'.

The former minister, who was also a spokesman of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, insisted that he knew Bianca in the early mid-80s when he was a student at the London and Cambridge Universities respectively.

He noted that they were good friends at the time and had a few mutual friends who are still alive till date. The statement stated that though he had not seen Bianca for over 25 years, he spoke to her on the phone when her husband passed on last year.

Rare genetic disorder: Meet the 14-year-old boy with the body of a 110-year-old

A 14-year-old boy Ali Hussain has been left with the body of a 110-year-old in India because he has a rare disease which makes him age eight times faster than normal.  The rare condition called Progeria  is known to affect just 80 people worldwide.

Two of his brothers and three of his sisters have died from the disease in Bihar, the poorest state in India.

Progeria causes rapid ageing and sufferers of the genetic disease are prone to arthritis, eye problems, heart disease and baldness. Sufferers are not expected to live much beyond the age of 14 - but despite the grim prognosis Ali has refused to give up hope.

Nigeria Plans £5000 Visa Bond for UK Citizens

Three months to the commencement of the £3,000 visa bond regime due to be imposed on Nigerians travelling to the United Kingdom, the Federal Government may have perfected plans to impose a £5,000 visa bond on prospective British citizens visiting Nigeria.

This is in retaliation to the new but controversial immigration policy of the UK scheduled to commence in November 2013.

The Home Office of the United Kingdom, recently classified Nigeria, India, as “high risk” and placed a £3,000 bond on every Nigerian visiting Britain. The bond will be forfeited to the British government if an immigrant overstays his permit.

More than two million Nigerians are residing in the UK. Uproar had greeted the immigration policy described as “discriminatory” since its announcement in June.

Why were you dethroned?

It all started when I got the Franchise for participation at the Miss United Nations Pageant on the 17th to 18th of April 2013.

When we got home, Mr Richard who was my personal director suggested I should do a Coronation Party for Recognition and attention and it came to pass with guests as Mr Zelly Mighty the African Director, Mr Jahn Basil the National Director, Sharon Mmezie Miss Unity Nigeria, Lynda Onwuka’ Queen Culture, Chisom Ubadike’ Miss Agulu, Amaka’ Runway Queen and so many others on the 19th of May.

The next day, 20th, I took them on a Courtesy visit to my State Govt’ Chief of staff and were received with warm hands. They were also given an Appreciation of 100,000.

Along the line, something camp up. I had a little problem and my personal director secretly suggested that I should be replaced by one Emilia Miebi. It came to my knowledge and I had him removed as my director.

Judge Orders Parent To Change Their Baby's Name From ''Messiah'' To ''Martin''

  

A Tennessee judge has ordered a baby's first name changed from "Messiah" to Martin, saying that the only true messiah is Jesus Christ, a ruling the boy's mother promises to appeal, a Tennessee television station has reported.

"The word 'messiah' is a title, and it's a title that has only been earned by one person, and that one person is Jesus Christ. And the child would likely struggle with his given first name because he lives in Cocke County, a predominantly Christian area in eastern Tennessee", the Judge said.

The baby's mother Jaleesa Martin said she would appeal against the judge's order.

"I didn't think a judge could change my baby's name because of her religious beliefs," she said.

She said she chose the name not because of its religious connotations, but because she liked how it sounded with her two other children's names, Micah and Mason.

UK FINES GTB FOR POOR MONEY LAUNDERING CHECKS

The United Kingdom subsidiary of GTB has been fined by markets regulators for money laundering offenses. The bank was fined €500,000,that's over #150m for failing to have control to prevent money laundering. 

The Financial Conduct Authority said on Friday that between May 2008 and July 2010, the bank had failed to assess potential money-laundering risks, screen customers against sanction lists, establish the purpose of the accounts being opened in their London branch or review the activity of "high risk" accounts, Reuters' report said.

 
A similar report by the Financial Times quoted the regulator as saying that the bank was not rigorous enough in pressing potential customers on their sources of wealth.

'I was in Zurich the other day, in a store whose name I will not mention. I didn't have my eyelashes on, but I was in full Oprah Winfrey gear. I had my little Donna Karan skirt and my little sandals. But obviously 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' is not shown in Zurich.

Lagos State's New Domestic Violence Law - Beat Your Woman, Land In Jail!

It is now, officially, an offense for any man to hit his woman in Lagos State. And it doesn't matter if you two are legally married, as long as you are living together in a home setting.

According to the deputy governor of Lagos State, Hon Joke Orelope-Adefulire, the new Domestic Violence Law protects women who are most times the target of violence in the home and also safeguards the interest of men, children, servants, maids and everyone who may be a victim of domestic violence.

Pope Francis sends message to Muslims to wish them the end of Ramadan

It is has been a Vatican tradition for the past 40 years to send its wishes to the world’s Muslims for Eid al-Fitr, the feast of fast breaking which marks the end of Ramadan. The message is usually signed by the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, the dicastery in charge of the Catholic Church’s relations with Islam.

 

But Francis wanted to give his message a more personal touch as a sign of special attention to his Muslim brothers, so he signed it in person: “This year, the first of my Pontificate, I have decided to sign this traditional message myself and to send it to you, dear friends, as an expression of esteem and friendship for all Muslims, especially those who are religious leaders,” the Pope wrote.
